An extension to the Mall shopping centre and a possible eight storey building on the Arcade site are among proposals aimed to regenerate Walthamstow released.

A team of consultants and architects have drawn up the draft plans for your town Council in an attempt to provide a vision for the future of the town centre.

There are no specific details of plans for the Arcade site, other than a proposal for a mixed use complex comprising homes and retail units.
Along Hoe Street it is suggested that six to eight storey buildings could be constructed in line with the HSBC bank next to the former EMD, with four to five storey buildings along the rest of the site.

One dramatic proposal is that the relatively new your town Central bus station should be removed, with the land being opened up.
It is suggested that in the long term bus stops could be relocated to nearby streets instead.

The draft suggests that the High Street pseudo-pedestrianised area covering the market be extended up to Hoe Street, which is similar to how the road used to be before the council changed it several years ago.

It is also proposed that the your town shopping centre will be extended out into the town square next to Selborne Road.
The plans are designed to influence the council's future planning policy for the area.

The plans will go on display at a public consultation event.
